Partly because Dragon Age 2 was terrible and Mass Effect 3 had a god awful ending, alot of people think its bad by association.
The game does have its faults, I think Bioware tried a little bit too hard to listen to fan feedback. The changes to the overall game were in a good direction but they also created some new problems. The worlds were way to big, when I finally got to a small world my sigh of relife was short lived as it had enough platforming elements and levels that mario would break out into a sweat, I don't want to even talk about how bad the platforming is.
Also the quests were boring and didn't really fit what someone who decides the fate of the world should be doing. I am the inquisitor, my word is law, I can destroy entire city's, but its my job to scavenge for some stones or find some blankets so refugee's don't freeze. The game gave you a power system that you get for completing quests, why can't I use that to do some monotonous tasks, while I focus on shit that needs my attention. Reward me if I decide to spend some time to personally help people with menial tasks.
After completing the game, my save file had 125 hours on it, only about 15 of it was actually doing story content. I still didn't do everything, I just completed most of the major side quests. There were so many times I just wanted to skip something, but the thing that kept me going was learning more about the tidbits of the world.
I don't really care about Bioware's agenda for appealing to the SJW crowd, certainly wish there were more straight options, but unlike DAO and Mass Effect 3 I wasn't awkwardly put into homesexual paths unknowingly. I am angry that you can't romance Harding, she would have been a great straight option for males.
DA3 was a good sign, it shows that bioware is capable of improving and does listen to their fans. Its a solid 7/10, could be bumped higher if they fixed the problems I mentioned.
