What would be a good justification for a setting where martial prowess is almost universally valued? Where across cultures it's seen as not only respectable but also at times expected for certain folks to just also side job as an absolute shitkicker

Magic would still exist but it would take a sideline to people skilled at arms, maybe it's just not as respected

Complex analyses of combat and methods of fighting would exist, finding someone to train you to use a sword is never terribly difficult, multiple famous fighting schools/teachers exist and people often engage in pissing matches over who's school is the superior one. Noble gossip is less frequently about that affair Mistress Rumblebottom is having or the grain prices in Gnawbone and more about how Lord Fartaplenty bested Duke Toot'nfanny in an honorable duel (*gasp* but Duke Toot'nfanny is one of the kings most trusted men! The scandal of having someone so ill equip as an aid)

I'm not 100% sure where I'm going with this but I want a world where duels can happen anywhere anytime and for the stupidest reasons and where once a weapon gets drawn in a barfight it becomes a scene from a crusades painting

Is it possible these days to pull off an "my character was actually a woman!" kind of thing without coming off as a gigantic douchebag, That Guy, and possibly Magical Wizard?

The Bugbears

No.40471292 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, and even Gnolls have been fully fleshed out over the years but what about Bugbears? What makes them stand out from the other goblinoids other than size and appearance?

Hobgoblins are orderly and militant, Orcs are clan-like barbarians, and goblins live in warbands usually under other creatures.

Tell me about bugbears and any way that you've used them in your games.

Welcome to d20Station, a rule light, low moderation server filled with custom content.

wiki located at

>What the fuck is Space Station 13
A top down atmospherics simulator with a "whodunit" on top. Survive in the station and do your department's job, while fixing the problems that the antagonists cause.

>How the fuck do I play this game? I keep hitting myself with things.
Use OOC and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC.

>Hey /tg/ station I...
We are a separate entity from /tg/ station, we just host our threads on /tg/ as the server was made by fa/tg/uys for elegan/tg/entlemen.

We occassionally run Dorfstation mode, a roundtype where the crew must build up from a bare-bones station. Dorf is usually run Friday evenings, around 4-7 PM EST.

>How is this station different from [station]?
Join the server and read the rules and changelog (located at the top right of the game window). The changelog has been cleaned up to show changes starting from the base code of the /nt/ branch.

Code branch from NT (also named d20Station) is updated a few times every week with fixes and new content.

If you have a bug, contact an admin in-game or on the thread to report it.

Note: This is NOT SS13 general.

>Who is Whiteagle/Widebagel/Wheatbagel/Whineagle/NiceDaemonette? Why are they such a shitposter?
They're the resident /tg/ shitposter that insists on trying to make the thread about themself no matter what is actually being discussed. Under no circumstances should you reply to this namefag.

nWoD X-Files

No.40499635 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Sup /tg/. I wanna run a nWoD game where the players are FBI agents investigating paranormal shit. It's just two players, one of whom is an old hat at WoD, old and new, and the other is basically new to RPGs so it lends itself pretty well to an X-Files type game.

I'm a fairly new GM and I'm just looking for any tips and suggestions to make this enjoyable and atmospheric. Also, on the crunch side of things, how much XP should these fools start out with? I don't want them to be fresh off the bus civilians, but they shouldn't be super-cops, either. They're FBI agents, after all.

Storytime thread: Britbongsteros

No.40477180 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Hi /tg/ we have not had one of these in a while but I have (some) time this week to continue telling tales of Britbongsteros if /tg/ would like me to.

>Wut is Britbongsteros?
It's a homebrew setting our DM (with some help from me) devised. We played a lot in it and I've been telling stories of our adventures for a little while now.
If you are a newfriend, you literally don't need to know anything about anything or have read any of the previous threads, but there is a wiki curated by an awesome anon.

That includes some general details about the setting.

So... I wanna have a random cameo in a tabletop game from velociraptors. Anatomically correct velociraptors who are less than half a dude's height, weigh less than forty pounds, and covered in feathers. Of course, the entirety of their threat comes from their numbers and pack tactics, unlike in Jurassic Park.

But anyway, I want to make them even more deceptively dangerous by giving their feathers and hides coloration like songbirds. I know that herd animals like zebras can use their crazy coloration to confuse predators, but can the predators themselves take advantage of bright plumage in some way?

MTG Modern General

Why does WOTC hate the most fun mechanic in Magic so much?

A once glorious and iconic Modern deck is now tier 4 thanks to WOTC faggotry.

Seething Song, Ponder, Preordain unban when?
