Managers do not control the teams, but they are simulated with the AI on high difficulty and the manager's job is to use the tactics in the options to lead the team to victory, such as formations, playing style, cards and medals. They can manage live before and during the games for tactical changes and substitutions.
To prevent advantages, each team has a height limit, as well as outfield players having flat 77 stats in each field (goalkeepers have 70 I think). However, each team has four "medal" players: Two silver (88 stats) and two gold (99 stats). These players are best put up front.
Over time, the cup has witnessed controversies. In May 2013, the /sp/ manager discovered that /n/ manager Dragonfag was also managing at least 15 other teams, resulting in the relegation of /n/, /y/, /cm/, /hm/, /s/, /3/, /an/ and /o/, as well as the vacating on both of /sp/'s elite cup titles (although they were reinstated with one after further investigating). Another controversial moment occurred at the end of the 2015 Winter Cup, when it was discovered that /wsg/ manager Knicklicht was actually a banned /ic/ manager, resulting in /wsg/ and /ic/ being relegated but not competing in the Spring Babby Cup that followed (and they may not even come back). /fa/ are also pretty much permadead due to drama, their last cup game being a loss to /pol/ in the 2014 Spring Babby Cup Final.
And other than that, /mlp/ totally rigs everything, /sp/ can get FUUUUUUUUUCKED, it's two, benis, /merit/, mercs, big teams and small teams, le toucan has arrived, Foojile posting trips, Bet Rigtor, BENULDIES :DDD, THANK YOU MR. SNOWMAN, and all that other stuff from the /4ccg/ threads on /vg/ which you should never ever visit because it's a festering shithole :^)
